Building a Cleaner and Greener Future: Seminar on Solid Waste Segregation by Team DJ and MENRO
August 24, 2023, a significant event unfolded in Barangay Doña Josefa as Team DJ, in collaboration with the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) and the Barangay Local Government Unit (LGU), successfully conducted a seminar titled "Limp You: A Seminar on the Importance of Solid Waste Segregation." The theme, "Sorting for sustainability: Building a cleaner and greener barangay through Solid waste segregation," set the tone for a day of insightful learning and community collaboration.
The seminar brought together residents, experts, and advocates to delve into the crucial topic of solid waste management. Mr. Felix Badon, the Municipal Head of MENRO in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay, graced the event as the guest speaker. With expertise and enthusiasm, he presented an enlightening discourse on solid waste education, policies, management, and best practices. This invaluable knowledge laid the foundation for fostering responsible waste disposal habits within the community.
Ms. Samantha Shaye Mutuc, SWS Project Manager of Team DJ, followed with a presentation that outlined our timeline strategy for Proper Solid Waste Segregation in Barangay Doña Josefa. This strategic plan reflects our commitment to effecting positive change by implementing sustainable waste management practices.
The event reached a milestone with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Barangay Doña Josefa and MENRO. This symbolized a united commitment to collaborate towards a cleaner and greener future. The signing ceremony, witnessed by ADZU-SOM medical students and the residents of Barangay Doña Josefa, underlined the collective dedication to making a difference at the grassroots level.
