MUAC Measurement and Teaching Proper Handwashing at Daycare Center

During our 3rd week, we went to Barangay Dona Josefa Daycare center. We coordinated with the Daycare teacher so that we can measure the Mid-upper arm circumference or MUAC of the children. This is a useful indicator whether a child is malnourished or not. We went there to help identify if there is malnourished children present in Barangay Dona Josefa and it will be a useful data for our CHP.

While being there, we also taught the children about proper handwashing and its importance, as frequent handwashing breaks the chain of infection. It was a lot of fun teaching the children and their mothers because everyone is following the instructions. The children are all fast learners as they easily learned the steps in proper handwashing.
