Making a Difference: Team Doña Josefa and Partners' Progressive Tuesday

Last February 21, 2023, Team Doña Josefa, in partnership with the NDP and Barangay Health Workers, had a very productive and progressive Tuesday as they carried out various activities aimed at promoting health and wellness within the community.

One of the day's highlights was the monthly BHW meeting, where the Barangay health workers came together to discuss important health issues affecting the community. This is a crucial activity as it allows the BHWs to coordinate and plan their activities for the coming weeks and months.

Another activity conducted on that day was the Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease advocacy at Doña Josefa Elementary School. This activity aimed to raise awareness about this contagious viral disease that commonly affects children, and educate parents and teachers on how to prevent its spread. By doing so, the school can be a safe environment for the children to learn and grow.

The team also worked on updating the school-based deworming program, which is a crucial component of the community's health and wellness initiatives. This activity ensures that school children are free from intestinal parasites that can lead to poor health and malnutrition.

The team also had a meeting with the school principal to schedule vaccination advocacy. The advocacy aims to promote the importance of vaccination, especially in the face of the ongoing pandemic. This activity is crucial in raising awareness about the importance of vaccination to protect individuals and the community from the spread of infectious diseases.

Lastly, the team conducted BP taking for adults aged 20 years old and above. This activity aims to help monitor and manage hypertension among adults in the community. By doing so, it helps prevent cardiovascular diseases that can lead to premature death and disability.

These activities not only promote health and wellness within the community but also provide a platform for community members to work together towards a common goal.
