Healthy Hearts, Strong Communities
On September 1, 2023, Barangay Doña Josefa witnessed a remarkable event - the symposium "Healthy Hearts, Strong Communities: Beating Hypertension Together," orchestrated by Team DJ. Hypertension, a silent but deadly health issue, was at the forefront of our discussions. This gathering served as a critical step in addressing the hypertension problem in our community.
The symposium's theme perfectly encapsulated our mission - to build a healthier community that stands together against hypertension. With objectives focused on knowledge enhancement, early detection, lifestyle improvement, medication compliance, and prevention, attendees left armed with essential information. Aisha Maleiha Ahmad and Al Obeidi Abubakar guided us through a journey of understanding, emphasizing the significance of heart health.
One notable highlight was our commitment to empowering our community further. We not only shared knowledge but also taught seven volunteer residents from each of the seven puroks in Barangay Doña Josefa how to check blood pressure. This initiative will enable us to monitor the BP of residents regularly, ensuring that we are vigilant in maintaining heart health. The event was a true testament to community collaboration, with the ADZU School of Medicine students actively participating.
As we move forward, the symposium remains a call to action, igniting a spark within us to lead lives marked by healthy hearts and stronger bonds in Barangay Doña Josefa. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of this event. Together, we stride towards a future filled with healthier hearts and a more robust community.
