5th Community Exposure: Waste Management Initiative

On March 11, 2024, Team DJ joined forces with the Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU) of Barangay Doña Josefa to embark on a groundbreaking project – the construction of the first Residual Containment Area (RCA) at Purok Malipayon, Barangay Doña Josefa, Ipil. This facility will serve as a dedicated waste holding area for residual and special waste, marking a significant step towards sustainable waste management in the barangay.

In addition to the construction of the RCA, the BLGU provided stacks of used tires to be repurposed as a makeshift compost pit for biodegradable waste. This innovative approach not only reduces waste but also promotes the recycling and reuse of materials, aligning with the principles of sustainable and eco-friendly waste management.

The collaboration between Team DJ and the BLGU underscores their shared commitment to environmental stewardship and community health. By implementing effective waste management practices, they are not only addressing the immediate waste disposal needs of the barangay but also laying the foundation for a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future for all residents.
